A Math teacher who taught gifted middle school students in Brooklyn was arrested on Wednesday and charged with sexually abusing a boy at the Brooklyn middle school where he worked. Andre Braddy, 34, was arrested at Lenox Academy - a magnet school for talented middle schoolers - in Canarsie, Brooklyn. It is alleged that the Math teacher had sex with a 15-year-old boy inside the school's bathroom. This went on for at least a month. He allegedly had sex with the teen three times and sent him lewd pictures. The boy reportedly told one of his parents about the encounters with the teacher, and the police were called, leading to Braddy's arrest last Wednesday evening. In a statement, Douglas Cohen, a spokesman for the city Department of Education, said: "These deeply disturbing allegations have no place in our schools." Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie recently spoke with The Guardian UK and she touched on topics such as feminism, racism, how pregnancy affects women’s growth, the #MeToo movement and women and the culture of likeability. She also explained why she's not on Twitter. Speaking on the #MeToo movement, the  Purple Hibiscus  author said: I feel optimistic. But cautiously optimistic. Ekiti state governor Ayo Fayose, says his critics who are waiting for the expiration of his tenure so they can deal with him will wait in vain. The governor whose second term as governor would come to an end this year, said he feared nobody and owed no one any apology for the way he has governed the state as well as for his critical comments on National issues. Speaking on Channels TV yesterday, Governor Fayose said “Those waiting for me (after leaving office) would wait in vain. I am Peter, the rock. I am telling you again, those waiting for me will wait in vain. I have done everything. I have defended Nigerians in good conscience and I have no apologies and I will never have one. North Korea promised to close its atomic test site next month and invite US weapons experts to the country as Donald Trump expressed optimism about securing a nuclear deal in his summit with the secretive regime.   The reported pledge from the North’s leader Kim Jong Un follows weeks of whirlwind diplomacy that saw Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in agree to pursue the complete denuclearisation of the peninsula during a historic summit on Friday. “Kim said, during the summit with President Moon, that he would carry out the closing of the nuclear test site in May,” Seoul’s presidential spokesman Yoon Young-chan said.  Kim said he “would soon invite experts of South Korea and the US as well as journalists to disclose the process to the international community with transparency”, Yoon added. Senate President, Bukola Saraki, today paid a condolence visit to the NYSC oreintation camp in Ilorin, Kwara state following the death of one of the corps members, Miss Hilda Eva Amadi. Miss Amadi reportedly died following a severe injury she sustained during a “Man o’ War” drilling exercise in the ongoing orientation exercise at the camp. Saraki expressed sadness over the demise of the corps member. He assued the remaining corps members of their safety and wellbeing while at the camp.

The Nigerian Army yesterday paraded three suspected militants captured by its troops after an exchange of gunfire at Tormatar village in Benue State. The Commanding Officer of 72 Battalion, Lt. Col. Suleiman Muhammad, said troops of the 707 Special Forces Brigade in Makurdi, apprehended the trio while they were converging on a camp to launch further attacks on the state. “Troops of the 707 Special Forces Brigade conducted a fighting patrol on a suspected militia herdsmen camp located close to Tormatar village on Thursday. The armed men were massing up for another possible attack on innocent citizens in the local government area. On getting to the militia camp, the herdsmen fired at our troops but the troops immediately returned fire and dislodged them,”  he said. Kanye West has revealed the identity of the doctor who performed the cosmetic surgery that killed his mother. He disclosed that the doctor will be the cover art for his next album and he is doing it because he wants to forgive and heal. The rapper shared a screenshot of his private message informing someone that the plastic surgeon will be the cover art for his album and he needs a suggestion for the album title. Sharin a photo of plastic surgeon Jan Adams, Kanye wrote: "This is my album cover. This is plastic surgeon Jan Adams. The person who performed my mum's final surgery. Do you have any title ideas?" He added: "I want to forgive and stop hating." The person suggested "Love everyone" as the title and Kanye approved.

Singer  Simi has been decorated as one of the Human Rights Ambassadors from Nigeria by the US Consul General F. John Bray . She shared the news on her Instagram happy and describing it as a honour. She wrote: A few days ago, I was decorated at the US Consulate, by the US Consul General, as one of the Human Rights Ambassadors from Nigeria, in conjunction with CRALI. . Today, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began the verification exercise for the recall process of Senator Dino Melaye . The exercise is taking place across the local government areas in Kogi West Senatorial District of the state where the lawmaker represents in the National Assembly . Constituents who had petitioned the INEC about the lawmakers’ recall trooped out in large number to verify their signatures at various polling units. The verification exercise taking place today is consequent to the meeting of stakeholders convened by INEC on Wednesday in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital. According to a timetable released by the electoral umpire, the outcomes of the exercise will be declared on Sunday, April 29. See photos from some polling units below
